Cougar Connect: What an Amazing First Week!
It has been an AMAZING first week here at Clyde Hill Elementary! It has been a pleasure meeting so many new students and families - first with the return of our 1st - 5th grade students this past Tuesday and today with the start of our Kindergarten students. It makes us all the more excited to meet our preschool students who begin their school year this coming Monday.
With the start of preschool this also means that there will be even more students arriving at Clyde Hill in the morning.
Morning Drop Off & Afternoon Pick-Up
The only cars that should enter the parking lot from 98th Ave NE are staff members or parents/guardians of preschool students who have preschool car tags. Please remember this is also the lot that our school buses use; and with the start of preschool, we will have additional buses entering the lot. Anticipate additional staff members redirecting families without the preschool parking tag to use the student drop-off zone in the parking lot on NE 24th St, park in school parking lots located off of NE 24th, or to find neighborhood parking.
We are continuing to work with the Facilities Department of the Bellevue School District to ease the parking challenges at Clyde Hill Elementary, and our first step in doing this is to have families follow the established drop-off guidelines. If you missed those, they can be found in the previous post linked here: https://clydehill.bsd405.org/our-school/news/news-details/~board/clyde-hill-elementary-school-news/post/cougar-connect-class-placements-morning-drop-off-and-afternoon-pick-up
Our School's Population
As we start the year, here are a few statistics that we can share, so far, about Clyde Hill Elementary for the 2024-25 school year:
- Right now we have 501 students who have attended class at Clyde Hill in grades K-5, and we anticipate adding approximately 70 preschool students on Monday!
- In our school we have 38 different home languages.
- Besides English our most common home languages are: Chinese-Mandarin, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Portugese, Farsi, Hindi, and Mongolian.
In our K-5 classrooms, some of our classes are very close to the typical size that we hope to see; however, in a couple of grades our class sizes are growing while others are holding steady at smaller than expected levels. We will continue to monitor our incoming enrollments and student withdrawls to determine what, if any, changes need to be made to ensure all students have effective learning environments.
Mark Your Calendar for the PTA General Membership Meeting
The first Clyde Hill PTA General Membership Meeting is coming up on Tuesday, September 17th at 6 PM in the Clyde Hill Elementary Library. The PTA is a critical support to Clyde Hill Elementary providing vital resources that support the amazing things our educators do at Clyde Hill. Our PTA also helps connect our community together. We hope you will consider joining the PTA and joining us on the evening on September 17th!
