Cougar Connect: Unity Day!

Clyde Hill Elementary cougar logo mark

It was wonderful seeing so many families at last night's PTA Bingo Night!!!  I had no idea there were so many variations on how you could play Bingo!  As we continue through the year, we hope you will join us for the next PTA event which will happen on October 25th - the Clyde Hill PTA Trunk or Treat!

Trunk or Treat - Friday, October 25th

The Clyde Hill PTA is happy to present our annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 25 at 6 pm.  Families that are interested in hosting a Trunk can sign up at Clyde Hill PTA: 2024 Trunk or Treat (signupgenius.com).   We are also looking for a limited number of volunteers to help with parking management as well as helping to restock candy. See the sign up website for more details.

Trunk hosters should plan to arrive at 5 pm to get set up, which will be in the East parking lot bordering 98th Ave NE and NE 24th St.

Our very own Candy Monster will be set up in the office starting this coming Monday; the Candy Monster as always appreciates your candy donations!

We understand the Northwest Arts Center on NE 23rd St. east of the school also has an event that evening so it will be a busy and fun time in the neighborhood.  Please keep this in mind when making transportation arrangements.

Please contact David Cordova at 206 369 4637; dcordova@deloitte.com with any questions.

Events like Bingo Night and Trunk or Treat are so special for schools not only because of the memories formed but also for the community they help develop among our families.  We also strive to daily to develop this community among our students.  On October 16th, Clyde Hill Elementary, alongside schools in Bellevue and around the world, will celebrate Unity Day, an opportunity to celebrate the unity and community we work to build in our school.  Below, our school counselor, Fran Gatica, known as Mrs. G. to our students, shares more about Unity Day in the Counseling Corner.

Counseling Corner:  By Fran Gatica

Next week is Unity Week at our school! We invite all students to wear orange on Wednesday to show their support. This week is filled with activities that encourage everyone to think about what unity means—whether it’s being kind to one another, standing up for friends, or fostering a sense of community.

You’ll notice orange decorations by the front door, and students will have the opportunity to take pledges outside to promote kindness and unity here at Clyde Hill. With engaging activities planned in the library, classrooms, and during recess, we aim to create an inclusive environment where every student feels like they belong.

New Sensory Friendly Performances – Bellevue Youth Theater

Bellevue Youth Theater is piloting a new program to make theatre more accessible for all: Sensory Friendly Performances. These are performances specifically designed for audiences who are on the spectrum or have other sensory-processing sensitivities.

Sensory friendly performances will have increased lighting, lower sound volumes, a designated quiet zone, sensory guides and complimentary fidgets, items in the lobby that can be touched and explored prior to the show, an actor introduction of the show, and the permitted use of digital devises. Fewer seats will be sold for these shows to make for a more comfortable viewing experience. Our goal is to welcome many into the theatre who may not have been comfortable before. Learn more by calling 425-452-7155

Upcoming sensory friendly performances will include

  • The Mummy’s Revenge (November 2, 2:00 p.m.)
  • Finding Nemo Jr. (November 23, 7:00 p.m.)
  • Twas the Night Before Christmas (December 14, 2:00 p.m.)
